I haven't had a lot of work to do for most of this week because all the students in my lab have been working on their presentations for the symposium that is today. I am going to start working on my presentation for the end of this internship. I am still trying to figure out what exactly I should put on it but I will probably talk about the research I did on black holes.
This Monday we went on a trip to the MEES Observatory and had dinner at Sticky Lips before we went. It was such a fun dinner! And seeing Saturn and all the other stars at the observatory was really cool too. Before the trip I didn't have any work to do though, so mostly I just walked around and helped out other people.

Today I played around in PuTTY for a while and I think I sort of understand how to use it now. I opened some files and I have to figure out and get comfortable using IDL so I can plot of the data in one of the files for practice. I also read over some notes on one of the projects one of my co-workers is working on.

Yesterday I spent some time trying to learn how to use Unix and played around in PuTTY but I didn't get very far. I also worked a little bit on the intern challenge, but I didn't get very far with that either. I did spend some time hanging out with the other interns in the MVRL lab.
Last Friday I wasn't here in the morning again because I had camp for volleyball. Chris Fallon came in and he helped me get set up with Xming and PuTTY and showed me how to do a couple of things in it. I am going to learn how to use Unix.

This morning I had volleyball camp at my school so I was not herein the morning and I will not be for the entire week. I didn't have any work to do for most of the day that I was here but I found Jake's thesis and will read parts of it that he assigned for me to do.
Friday we had "bring your friend to work day" and I brought in my friend Melissa. We got to see a 3D scanner that some of the freshman class helped build for U of R and that was pretty cool. I also had a lot of fun at the cookout playing kan jam and chatting. Most people were missing from my lab so I introduced my friend to the people that were there and we hung out.
